Barry Fairhurst

Chief Executive Officer

 

Barry has 25 years’ of global experience working with some of today’s most innovative and successful technology companies in the Media and Entertainment Industry as well as the Finance and Services sectors. When Adobe released PostScript, when NCR perfected the ATM, when Avid redefined the editing process, Barry played an integral part in bringing these technologies to market and drive market adoption. Barry has worked with a number of early stage companies driving 10X growth as well as leading mature enterprises in their adoption of advanced technologies and processes.

Barry received his B. Comm. from Concordia University in Montreal and holds a CPA, CMA designation. Barry is a resident  of Whitby, Ontario, Co-facilitator of the C.E.O. Peer Group for Techconnex (formerly YTA) and is an avid golfer.

 

Paul Friedman  

Chief Operating Officer 

 

Paul has had over 25 years of success introducing technologies to Canada's Media and Entertainment Industry. He has been involved at early stages of major technology transitions such as analog to digital, tape to disk, local to shared storage, SD to HD, and adoption of IP based content contribution and distribution. Paul and the team at F2 Technologies see M&E and AV industry's move to a fully IP based infrastructure as the next unstoppable trend. 

 

Paul has established and managed operations for several multinational organizations including Avid Technology and Dejero Labs. During that time, he built sales teams, managed P&L, developed successful go-to market plans, increased revenue and created marketing strategies. He has worked with some of Canada's largest companies, government agencies as well as entrepreneurs, and mid-sized businesses from coast to coast. 

 

Originally from Montreal and a business graduate of Concordia University, Paul is a resident of Burlington, Ontario. 

 

 

David Kip

Director of Integration

 

David is F2's Director of Integration as well as Founder and President of Best Broadcast and Standard Integration. Dave is responsible for engineering, consulting and design, focused on creating total solutions for broadcast, cable, outside production and audio/visual customers. Since 2008, David's clients have engaged him to meet their technological challenges, from concept to completion, or any link in the project chain. Dave has a team of technologists, CAD operators, project managers, and installers that are highly skilled and trained to provide the best services possible. 

 

 

Jeff Simpson

Director of Sales

 

Jeff has enjoyed working with some of the most innovative companies in the Media and Entertainment space. From groundbreaking work in electronic field production and the development of High Definition camera systems at Sony, through to non-linear editing and networked media platforms at Avid Technology, Jeff has worked with his clients to build solutions that deliver.  The next wave promises to be full IP based systems that will enable a new generation of content production and delivery technologies.  Jeff and the F2 team are excited to help their clients make this transition.

 

Jeff lives in Toronto and the father of two boys.  He is active in his community as President of the Don Mills Civitan Club, a charitable club working with disadvantaged youth, as well as supporting local minor hockey in his neighborhood

 

 

Jinha Chung

Director - Project Management

 

Jinha has a long standing reputation of specializing in flexible, cost effective enterprise project solutions with a history of delivering strategic initiatives for corporate clients within the technology sector.   Jinha has held senior corporate positions with Sprint Canada and Rogers Wireless.  He is a project and process expert who has built and enhanced number of Project Management Offices within the technology sector. Jinha is also a Past Chair for TechConnex, one of the largest technology industry association in GTA.  He also lectures Project Cost Management at Humber College in Brampton.

 

Jinha received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and his Masters of Business Administration degree at York University (Schulich School of Business).  He is also PMP certified with the Project Management Institute and is a Certified Scrum Master through Scrum Alliance.

 

Industry Advisors

 

Allan Morris - Allan has more than thirty years’ experience in the broadcast industry. Following a variety of projects with CBC Montreal, Allan moved to Toronto accepting a position as Assistant Director of Engineering at CFTO-TV. He attained the position of Senior Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Information Technology. He was directly involved in the significant growth of Bell Media, which started at CFTO, transition to CTV and finally Bell Media. Technical Operations, Radio and Information Technology were added to his portfolio. Allan has been recognized for  creating one of the most efficient and technically adept and creative media organizations in the world. With a deep understanding of today’s challenges facing broadcasters and other media organizations; he also comprehends the right technological solutions in a world where there are many options at various levels of maturity. Allan received his Electrical Engineering degree from Sir George Williams University of Montreal and is a resident of Toronto, Ontario

 

Tom Ohanian - Tom is a senior business development executive and digital transformation strategist. He is an Academy Award and two-time Emmy award recipient for scientific and technical invention and holds multiple patents. He has been involved in the creation of products that have led to industry transformations in post-production, terrestrial IP distribution, and virtualized broadcast infrastructures.

 

Michael Phillips - A veteran technologist and creative professional, and a former executive with Avid Technology, Phillips consults with studios, broadcasters and post-production facilites focusing on developing new workflow solutions and other emerging technologies. Michael received a 1992 Technical Emmy for his role in the development of the original Avid/1 Media Composer and received a 1994 Academy Award® for Scientific & Technical Achievement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Phillips brings more than 30 years of experience in research and development, and in hands-on creative roles. Currently, Michael is the CTO of Hula Post, Burbank, California.
